PROJECT SUMMARY
SDG were proud to assist The Martin Property Group with innovative acoustics solutions on various projects throughout 2022. Forming strategic partnerships with companies such as The Martin Property Group is a core operating principle of SDG, working closely with our clients to become Stronger Together.
The Martin Property Group are a large family-run development company, that specialise in the strategic repositioning of commercial, residential, and retail properties across the UK and Ireland. As the requirement for high street shopping declines, companies like this are at the forefront of transforming these properties into key habitable spaces – making better use of the existing properties and working to tackle the current housing deficit.
THE CHALLENGE
With councils driving town centre change, demand for Part E (England & Wales)/G (Northern Ireland) compliant acoustic solutions is at an all-time high. Councils throughout the UK are supporting long-term plans to evolve high streets into thriving places to work, visit and live, with the overall goal
being to breathe new life into our town centres. With the conversion of existing commercial premises into apartments, acoustically isolating upper and lower floors from impact sound, and isolating walls and facades from internal and external airborne sound has never been more important.
OUR SOLUTION
The Martin Property Group requested assistance from SDG in providing acoustic solutions for two NI Projects: The repurposing of the Café Roc building in Derry, and the new build apartment complex at Bridge Street, Strabane. Working closely with our partner Isomass Acoustics, we were able to provide
fully indemnified Part E/G compliant designs to ensure both projects were up to the standard required. Isomass’ skilled designers take the difficult acoustic design work out of any project and provide expertly thought-out solutions utilising their range of UK-manufactured acoustic products.
THE RESULT
Working closely with Isomass and site, we provided two Part E/G compliant acoustic solutions:
Café Roc Redevelopment
We provided the Isocheck Primo 30 system to greatly reduce sound transmission through traditional/composite/steel joisted floors. Specifically designed for renovation and repurposing, Isocheck Primo 30 offers an incredibly simple way to meet Part E/G.
Bridge Street Strabane
We provided the Isocheck ResiScreed acoustic layer to reduce impact sound transmission through all types of structural concrete floors. Ideal for new-build constructions, ResiScreed offers an affordable way to adhere to Part E/G guidance.
